COMMITMENT TO QUALITY

Layden Control Machining, Inc. strives to be a source for high quality precision parts. We earn customer satisfaction by performing expected functions reliably and effectively in accordance with the customer's requirements.

Contract Review

Orders are acknowledged and accepted only after the documented customer requirements are understood and the company has adequate capability to meet these requirements.

When contract requirements are amended, Customer Service notifies the appropriate production supervisors to ensure the company continues to have capability to meet the amended requirements.

Document Control

Review the following for revision level; ensure that all of the following are consistent with customer requests:

  1. Prints
  2. Solid models
  3. CNC Programs - the first line after part name must specify revision level.

A designated individual is to re-file all prints. Obsolete documents are to be removed from all points of use to avoid unintended use.

Purchasing

Procedures have been established to ensure that purchased products conform to specifications identified in purchase orders or contracts.

The Purchasing Department coordinates the selection, evaluation, and certification of suppliers with appropriate capabilities.

  1. Upon receipt of ordered material, it shall be tagged for the specific job for which material was ordered.
  2. Quantity shall be verified upon receipt.
  3. Material type shall be verified by packing slip and/or accompanying certification papers upon receipt.
  4. Certified material must be placed in the Certified Material area and tagged.
  5. Paperwork accompanying material is to be placed in receiving bin.
  6. Copies of all paperwork accompanying certified material is to be put in designated file and logged into book.

Receiving Tooling

  1. Upon receipt, each tooling order is tagged and identified for the job for which it was ordered.
  2. Quantity shall be verified upon receipt.
  3. Size and type shall be verified upon receipt.
  4. Grade must be verified to meet customer requirements. (For example: H2 or H3 thread limits on a tap.)
  5. All accompanying paperwork shall be placed in receiving bin.
  6. If receiving a measuring tool, calibration procedures must be performed.

Dimension Sheet

  1. A log sheet listing all the dimensions and tolerances on customer's drawing shall be made up prior to running the part.
  2. All measurements from first article must be logged before running production. Critical dimensions from sample quantity must be logged while running production.
  3. All log sheets to be kept. Copies to be furnished upon customer's request.

Calibration

Inspection, measuring, and test equipment is qualified to applicable calibration requirements and verified prior to use. A database is used to maintain approved calibration procedures and provide records of periodic calibration of mechanical or specialized test and measure equipment to those procedures.

Where the availability of technical data pertaining to the inspection, measuring, and test equipment is a specified requirement, such data is made available when required by the customer or customer's representative, for verification that the equipment is functionally adequate.

Quality Assurance ensures that...

  • Inspections specify the appropriate inspection, measuring, and test equipment capable of the necessary precision.
  • Equipment to be included in the calibration to prime standards traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) where appropriate, specify calibration methods and frequency, and describe the labeling requirements for calibrated equipment.

Nonconforming Material

Nonconforming material shall be removed and tagged immediately to avoid unintended use.

Nonconforming products are reviewed and corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence where appropriate.

When rework is required to bring the product into conformance, inspections are conducted in accordance with the customer's requirements.

Training

Layden Control Machining identifies training needs and provides training of personnel performing activities affecting quality. Personnel are qualified on the basis of appropriate education, training and/or experience.
